Health Education
- 1 TO 1 education about HIV, HIV treatment,
birth control, STD's, pregnancy, and other health topics. Information
on HIV disease, HIV treatments, health, nutrition, pregnancy, child
development, parenting, substance abuse, and stress management is
provided in English and Spanish. Brochures, books and videotapes are
available. The program provides HIV education programs for health
care professionals, social service agencies, drug treatment programs,
schools, childcare facilities, and community groups.
Case Management
- Help with food, housing, transportation, and
child care. Help with medical appointments. Referrals to drug & alcohol
recovery programs. Comprehensive case management services are provided
by clinical social workers. Staff are bilingual and have extensive
experience in providing care to women, children, and adolescents.
The social workers coordinate care and treatment plans with multidisciplinary
service providers. The social workers provide referrals for community
resources, emergency assistance, housing, transportation, respite
care, dental care, mental health, chemical dependency, and legal services.

Clinical Research Trials
- Patients can participate in research studies
to determine the best treatments for HIV and to prevent HIV transmission
during pregnancy. The research trials, sponsored by the National Institutes
for Health and pharmaceutical companies, provide the opportunity to
try the newest HIV medications available. If you have any research

Transitioning from Youth to Adult Care
- The UCSD Youth Program provides health care
and supportive services for youth up to 25 years of age. As youth
transition into an adult health care system, the Adolescent Team will
assist with coordination and continuation of care. The Adolescent
Team will provide services until the youth has successfully made the
transition to Adult Care.
