Who We Are
The Youth Council is a group of diverse youth and youth service
providers who meet to talk about health and social problems that
concern today's youth, specifically HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted
infections. We, youth advocates, speak out for young people who
are HIV positive or at risk for HIV infection. We help to connect
them to the youth friendly services they need to maintain healthy
lifestyles. We plan conferences and educational programs. We, the
youth, have a voice.
Mission Statement
Through a youth coordinated council we will:

Public Service Announcements
The Youth Council has developed six audio public service announcements (PSAs). Three PSAs are in English and three PSAs are in Spanish. These PSAs were developed for youth, by San Diego youth and in collaboration with Heads On Fire, www.headsonfire.org, a community-based media arts training program (email @ X.L@headsonfire.org). In the U.S. two young people become infected with HIV every hour of every day (Office of National AIDS Policy). Let’s empower youth with the information and resources necessary to be safe!
For more information on how to obtain a PSA press packet, please Contact Christian Fuentes at (619) 543-8080 ext. 226 or cfuentes@ucsd.edu.
